Teachers Awarded an A+ for Being Awesome

The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD honored seven community members for their outstanding contributions to education. These residents were recognized for achievement in acts of service, leadership and excellence.

Debbie Blackshear, president of the Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (CFFCU), was presented with the "Friend of Education" award for her 30 plus years of partnership through a myriad of contributions. This award is presented to a member of the community who has made major contributions to enhance the educational experiences of CFISD students.

Awards and recognition were also presented to the following community members:
Tim Calhoun of Cypress Woods High School, for serving as president of the Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA). Ashley Howard of Cypress Ridge High School, NOVA award for contribution to the advancement of social studies as a new teacher.

Don Kessler of Cy-Fair High School, for leadership as national chairman with the Automotive Youth Education Systems. Sally Provenzano of Cypress Springs High School, named Director of the Year by the Texas Dance Educator's Association. Kausam Salam of Cypress Falls High School, awarded Outstanding Educator in English Language Arts by the Texas Council of Teacher of English Language Arts (TCTELA).

Ann Wurst of Cypress Falls High School, received 2008 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education.

The CFISD Wall of Fame is now in it’s 16th year of honoring the district’s most outstanding employees and community members. To see the achievements and portraits of this year’s inductees you can visit the foyer of the ISC.
